Usually, it gets noticed by their family, friends, spouse or anyone who is really close to them. If you believe you’re going through this phase, it is vital to talk about this problem with someone, as ignoring a mental health problem or keeping it with yourself can result in serious issues in the long-run. Let us understand the symptoms or the developing signs of a mental health issue, and then understand how we can get out of it. Believe me, when I say, it is normal to talk about any problem that you’re facing. If you don’t talk about it, how are you going to get out of it?
1. Feeling sad most-of-the-times
According to me, the first and foremost way to find out if someone is going through a mental issue is to notice their behavior and emotions. It can while you are having a conversation, talking about any random thing or even if you aren’t talking at all! If a person is feeling down or sad on a regular basis, the first step you should do is to just be with them. Don’t try to fix anything or give any advice for some time, let them trust you enough to talk about anything that is going on in their life. There are very good chances that you will get close to them and eventually, you will start understanding their problems. When you feel it’s the right time, just have a polite and deep conversation. I am 90% sure you will be able to help them get out of their problems and be happy again!
2. Difficulties in performing day-to-day activities
People who are mentally sick typically face issues in completing regular daily things in life. From the early stages, with a careful eye, you can see that there is something amiss with a person’s mental wellness. If you believe you, or someone you know may be struggling from mental illness, talk with someone at BetterHelp. Their therapists are available 24/7 to help with any issues you may face.
3. Living in Fear
A person who is going through mental health issues could be suffering from some kind of unusual fear in their subconscious. You might be able to notice a sudden change in someone’s reaction whenever you are communicating face-to-face. It can be a reflection of their inner-fear or some kind of personal/professional tension in their head.
4. Frequent Mood Changes
If you, or someone you know tend to have irregular mood swings, there’s a slight possibility that they’re going through some kind of mental phase. Note that mood swings are common and do not always result in mental health issues. If it happens on a regular basis, there’s no harm in talking about it with someone. Infact, it’s certainly going to come out good for you.
5. Behavioral Symptoms
Obsessive-compulsive behaviour, anxiety and social phobia are the signs that a person is having particular mental health issues. In some serious cases, such unusual behaviour increases by time and can impact daily life activities.
6. Problems with drinking
Drinking or any type of addiction is very dangerous considering physical as well as mental health and it should be taken lightly AT ALL. If you or someone you know is going through this path, your foremost step should be to stop it completely. There are people who consider this normal and “cool” but it can certainly lead to serious mental health issues and even depression!
7. Anger or Violence
Getting a little bit angry is human, but you know when someone has anger problems and yes, it can be related to mental stress. If you are going through anger or violence problems, try to figure the source of this at first. I believe most of the people going through anger issues already know the reason but are not always ready to accept it. I have heard meditation or any other mind-calmness-related activity works wonders for such issues. I cannot repeat enough but I will; do not ignore it! It is always better to take care of any kind of mental health problems in their early stages and take actions as soon as possible, how about today? Let us know in the comments section about your suggestions or if you have overcome a similar problem.
